Little late to comment this, but in the last story the researchers didn't actually crash the entire botnet by sending a command from their OWN c2 server to their OWN device (which doesn't make much sense anyway), but only witnessed the bot crashing after receiving the bad command, and then replicated it. The source cited in the description also gets this wrong, but the original article mentions "It’s not every day you come across a botnet that the threat actors themselves crash their own handiwork"
